Community Open House January 12
Each year, Portland Stage invites people of all ages through its
doors for a unique "behind the scenes" experience. Backstage
tours, acting workshops, performances, readings, refreshments
and more!
Longfellows Shorts: Jonathan Aldrich January 28
A Longfellows Shorts author events featuring readings, commentary
and questions with Maine poet Jonathan Aldrich.
Longfellows Shorts: Valentines
Day February 11
A compilation of short readings for Valentines Day, spanning
music, literature and theater, which celebrate the many faces
of love; from the comedic to the beautiful and everything in between!
Longfellows Shorts: Author Event

Another in the series of Longfellows Shorts author events
featuring readings, commentary and questions with the author of
a new work of literature.
Little Festival of the Unexpected - May
12-17
Portland Stage Companys annual festival of new plays, now
in its 19th year, featuring acting and direction by the Affiliate
Artists. Giving first hearings to emerging voices in American
theater, "Little Fest" is an exciting opportunity to
watch new works make their dramatic leap from page to stage.

Fundraising & Friendraising Events: Helping to ensure the
future of PSC!

PSC's Community Open House
Saturday, Januray 12, 2007 - 1:00 to 4:00pm
Fun for all ages, this annual Open House is an opportunity for young
people (and the young at heart!) to tour our facility, enjoy performances
by PSCs Affiliate Artists, and partake of a variety of acting workshops.
This years' Open House features children's book author Amy MacDonald.
Come meet the author Little Beaver and the Echo, Please, Malese!and
Rachel Fister's Blister and hear her stories come to life! PSC's
Open House is pay-what-you-can and includes refreshments!

Director Talkbacks provide an opportunity for the director
of each show to meet with audiences and request specific feedback.
Audience comments allow the director to better understand the effectiveness
of the production, and are considered in rehearsals leading up to
opening night. Director Talkbacks follow Wednesday preview performances.

members to ask questions about the creative decisions behind each
production with Artistic Director Anita Stewart, and visiting
artists from each play (including directors, designers, and playwrights).
The Artistic Perspective discussions are held after the first
Sunday matinee performance.

Page to Stage discussions are presented in partnership
with the Portland Public Library. These discussions, led by PSC
artistic staff, provide insight into the literary and social aspects
of the play, as well as exploring the challenges of bringing a
particular play to the stage. Page to Stage is held at the Portland
Public Library at 12:15 p.m. the Tuesday after a show opens. Feel
free to bring your lunch!
